New Management at IGI

Effective on April 2015 Christian and Philipp Grimm will be the new Chief Executive Officers. They will continue the successfull work of Hubert Minten who joined IGI as CEO since 2008. Hubert Minten will leave IGI end of March. IGI is very thankful for his excellent work. "We are delighted to take care about this additional responsibility. We wish Hubert Minten continued success for the future," commented the brothers Grimm.

RailMapper based on the Z+F Profiler

Scanning the "Windberbahn" in Dresden with the IGI RailMapper, based on the Z+F Profiler

This article describes the case study: Scanning the "Windberbahn" in Dresden with the IGI RailMapper, based on the Z+F Profiler. It is one objective of Windbergbahn e. V. to preserve the monument “Windbergbahn“. This includes documenting the historic train tracks, the surrounding area and buildings next to the tracks, as well as the maintenance of the complete network - for what the association has been responsible since 2010. IGI started this project to support the association with its objectives. Together with Prof. Zimmermann from HTW Dresden and the Windbergbahn e. V., the survey track from “Dresden-Gittersee“ to “Freital-Birkigt“ was chosen. This track is very demanding because of Rmin= 80m of several curves...

ifp students visit IGI

IGI, one of the world's leading geospatial companies, invited on 26th June 2014 a group of interested students and employees of ifp University of Stuttgart accompanied by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Fritsch at a hands-on workshop in the Kreuztal office. After a warm welcome by the Manager of R&D Dr. Jens Kremer, the presentations showed an overview of IGI's portfolio and career prospects. In the lectures the students obtained an overall picture of the companies concept to provide its customers all necessary tools, starting from planning a mission, collecting the data and processing, up to delivering the final product. One student commented "All system components are very flexible and can be adapted to the customer's whishes."...

StreetMapper Maps French Railways for Safer Tracks

FIT ESIC is helping France’s national railway company SNCF improve safety and inform track upgrade works with the mobile laser scanning system StreetMapper. Owned and operated by FIT ESIC, the rail mounted StreetMapper was used to survey several hundreds of kilometres of track, generating engineering grade survey data on behalf of SNCF. The laser generated computer model was used to build a detailed 3D topographic map of the tracks and its surroundings. This provided length data and cross profiles as well as detecting potentially dangerous objects near the track...
