Updating an old Mission Planning File
Background info
IGIplan evolves from minor version to minor version (e.g. 1.1 to 1.2). An increase in the minor version typically indicates an addition of features, such as new mission planning objects types. Therefore Mission Planning Files created with a newer IGIplan minor version can contain objects, which cannot be read by older IGIplan versions. There might also be modifications on how to calculate the resulting waypoints from objects settings.
Options when opening an old IGIplan Mission Planning File
When opening a Mission Planning File in a newer IGIplan version (e.g. 1.2) which was saved from an older IGIplan version (e.g. version 1.1), IGIplan will recognize this situation and will prompt a dialog to you. There are basically two options
-
Update Mission Planning
If you want to load an old Mission Planning File to modify it and maybe use new features of the new IGIplan version, you have to update the old Mission Planning File. The mission will be re-evaluated from the settings in the mission planning objects. This might result in slightly different mission planning events. However, the update only takes place in your computer's memory. You have to save the updated mission planning to make it permanent. If you save the updated mission planning under a new name, the old file remains unchanged. Consequently, next time you open the old Mission Planning File, you will be asked again, if you want to update the unchanged file. -
Read Only Mode
You might just want to open an old Mission Planning File to export the planning to a CCNS4 mission card again, reprint a report, or export it to kml format. But you want the planning to not be modified in any way. Choosing read only mode all objects (the whole planning) will be locked. You can inspect all parameters, export information, but you will not be able to change anything in the planning, e.g. the positions of the mission events.
